Its a sight narrating situations people are placed in, and their (sometimes-most of the time) very inappropriate responses. This is the type of media page, that I am sure some CHILDREN view, and are subjected too. There are commercials marketing the site, and naturally interest arises, and people go on it. There is not age limit, or sign in- - just a free site. Do you think this should be something like facebook, and require you to input your age, in order to surf the site? I do.
I believe using positive energy everyday will result in positive things. This theory has held true to my life, as I could not be more blessed to have the people and things in my life that I do now.

I've thought the same thing before, I just hope that young kids never come across it, but that surely wont always be the case. In a way I think it should be protected more, but at the same time I can understand why the site doesn't make it like that. If there was a process where users had to register and have an account, I don't think the site would get as many visitors, people want to just be able to click on it and not have to "sign in." It's unfortunate because this website could be accessed by anyone old enough to get on the internet, which ties into the censorship we were talking about in this class, I wonder if there are any rules/regulations on this kind of situation.
ReplyDeleteYou mention that maybe there should be a sign-in where you have to enter your age to access a site. I have to say that these sign-ins do not work. For facebook, you have to be 13 to have an account (which I think is still too young) but if a kid is smart enough, they can change the year they were born. The 11 year old boy I nanny for had a facebook until his mom found out and blocked facebook on their computer. I think they need to come up with a harder way to gain a facebook or any other site that could be inappropriate to children.
ReplyDeleteI do agree with the sign ins most likely wouldn't work...anyone can put any age or birth date into the computer. Whether they are 10 or 20 they can easily access these kinds of sites. To be honest, yeah they can be somewhat funny, but they are not necessary and should just be done away with. Another website that can be related to this is FML.com...which also contains a lot of inappropriate answers.
